At GCC Council of Labor Ministers fifth meeting
Sharjah Islamic Bank wins the award for leading institutions in Job Emiratization
Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) was recognised as the leading institution in the field of Job Emiratization in the GCC, during the fifth GCC Council of Ministers of Labor meeting held in Muscat, Oman on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, congratulated His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah on this national achievement and thanked him for all the support provided to the Bank since its inception that enabled the bank to win many awards in various fields, especially in the field of Emiratization. He emphasised that the Bank's efforts in the field of Emiratization reflect the principles of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and that of His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Sharjah Islamic Bank.
His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah said the award aligns with the policy of the Federal Government, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. On the occasion, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised on the significance of Emiratization in the nation today. He also thanked the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization for nominating Sharjah Islamic Bank to be the sole representative of UAE in the field of Emiratization at the event.
The CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank highlighted the initiatives and efforts implemented by the bank to appoint Emiratis at various leadership, supervisory and executive positions. He added that the bank offers many advantages and incentives to attract UAE nationals, including providing training opportunities that encourage their development particularly in the banking sector. Such efforts help contribute to the economic and archeological growth of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates.
His Excellency Mohammed Abdulla said: “We offer a number of qualifying training programs to promote Emiratization, including the ‘Masar’ program for outstanding local employees to qualify and enable them to reach leadership positions at the departmental level within two to three years. The other program is ‘Ruwad’ which focuses on training new graduates with a bachelors and higher diploma holders to gain the expertise and skills necessary to efficiently excel in the banking profession."
Sharjah Islamic Bank has won several awards in the field of human development and Emiratization in recent years, including the Emiratization Award 2018 (the first edition - the large institutions category) which is one of the most important Emiratization awards in the UAE. Other recognitions include the CEO award of Emiratization in the financial sector in 2017, the Dubai Human Development Award, presented by the Department of Economic Development Department in Dubai, and the “Best Employer of Emiratization Initiatives” award for its participation in the first Ajman Career exhibition, organised by the Central Department of Human Resources Development in Ajman in 2014. The bank was also acknowledged with the award for the highest percentage for Emiratization among private sector organizations in the GCC countries in 2006 and the “Best CEO for Emiratization”, awarded to His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah in 2007.
